East Canyon - Uintaman - 09-12-2011

Took the boat to East Canyon, on the water by 8, fished until 2pm, was in the peak lunar time. Caught only 3 rainbows. Leaded line did nothing. Maybe I couldn't find right depth. Down rigger at 25. First one on Dodger green and green small squid. Next Dodger and black and brass panther martin. Next on Dodger and rapala with brass spinner. Could not find a pattern. Crazy a Lund boat well rigged launched the same time, only 3 also. A aluminum boat that trolled pop gear and worms zip.

An interesting note, fish finder saw very few fish?

It was still fun

I tried for the small mouths, I am good with a jig, but had no idea what size, color, type, and where.

I heard once...
Go fishing during the full moon/bright moon cycle to have fun.
Go fishing with little moon... to catch fish.
Full moon they were probably feeding all night and chilling bewteen 8-2 when you were fishing.

Its been my experience that during a full moon phase the fish wont be as interested in eating in the morning. I figure they have been able to hunt at night due to the Moons light.

Fishing the late afternoon / evening bite is more productive for me at these times.
Give it a try in the next few days and see for yourself.

Bays work well for Smallies at EC. Try colors like changable craw and Cinnamon with black flecks. I have had the best luck around the North end of the lake. Since the shore is steep throw your stuff around the shoreline from your boat. Bays with some flooded cover are a plus. Good luck.
