Labeling reels? - fisherwife - 10-30-2011
My husband wants to use a label gun to mark our reels with what type of line he has loaded on it. Is this a fairly common practice?

Yep, common practice for reels. I've done this for years to distinguish mono from fluoro on my reels

I've done the same thing... only not having a label-maker, I've used REMOVABLE stickers, similar to these:

Then I use a black Sharpie (with the really fine point) and use a code like BTFC10 10/11 (Berkly Trilene Fluourocarbon 10# test and month/year-date). I place the label someplace out of the way (like on the bottom of the housing) so that I won't be wearing it off, but it's still easily visible without removing the reel from the rod.
Until I get a label-maker, this system works for ME! [

I know this is an older post...buuuttt I use the little round stickers that you can get for yard sales and put them on the end of the butt of the rod and write on them with a sharpie like was previously mentioned...I have also heard of people place different colored rubber bands around certain rods that correlate to the line size.
