Some wily Roos. - Theekillerbee - 11-06-2011 Finally broke my streak of not killing a wild rooster in Utah in probably 20 years. Had a chance to hunt with some friends, and we scraped up a few birds. No real young birds, which means in that area nesting conditions weren't all that good, but I'll take the big birds any day! Was a great morning to be out. We saw about 10 or so roos, but only 4 were in range. They all happily met their maker. [signature] Re: [Theekillerbee] Some wily Roos. - RILEYFISH - 11-06-2011 Nice Job my friend. Way to put the hurt on them. [signature] Re: [Theekillerbee] Some wily Roos. - fishinfool - 11-06-2011 Nice! so mission accomplished! Sure wish there were more of those around, I grew up hunting them with my dad but for most of us those days seem to be over unless you go to a farm. Beautiful birds though and full long tails! Dad used to take those and stick em in a 30-06 shell with some sticks and that was my favorite toy to throw around. I'm jealous. Good job! I'm sure you'd have done much better if it wasn't clearing up. I love hunting phez, but they are few and far between. It was my favorite hunt as a kid. By the time I was old enough to hunt, they were really on the down slide. [signature] Re: [Theekillerbee] Some wily Roos. - fishinfool - 11-08-2011 Thanks man, them roosters sure are nice. I may have done a little better my spot is not so secret anymore and there was someone setup already half way out and two others came right threw are decoys throughout the day.[:/] Time to go exploring again, I got a spot I don't think anyone but me can get to but it's a 30 minute boat ride then jump a dike and down a canal to the lake. guess I will see. I also grew up pheasant hunting we had a great dog named lady that would amaze everyone that hunted with use. I miss them days watching her work,I was very young and it's been a very long time. glad you where able to find some wild ones and I bet your dog was fun to watch get them. [signature] |
