Be Careful On Newton - drpepper - 12-15-2011
Tried Newton for a couple hours on tuesday, the ice around the edges is good, 4 to five inches. tried a few places on the west side but never did find the perch. I was fishing about 30 to 40 feet off shore and decided to try further out so headed out slowly and out about 100 ft or so ice started making noises so stoped and drilled another hole, holly cow less than 2 in, the ice is covered with about an inch of snow so its hard to know whats under it. any how if anyone goes please be cautious.

I was going to ask how the fishing was to those that drilled the holes. I saw it on Tues as well. Definitely thin in spots.

Thanks for the heads up!! Was the ice at least clear, or was it the weaker, dirty ice? 2 inches of clear is way better than dirty, but either way, 2 inches increases the pucker factor.
