Montpelier Res info - thefireman - 12-26-2011

Just reading through the Idaho posts and am seeing some posts on Montpelier res. Got to thinking might be fun to go back to an old spot. I used to live in Montpelier until moving to Wyoming probably twenty five years ago. If anyone would be willing to share some info it would greatly be apperciated. Any info on road and ice conditions would be great also. Sounds like they added a few more species to the lake. Trout used to be the only game in town. Thanks

I got one koke this year, and believe me I had to work for it! Do not fish for kokes near the bottom the perch are so thick you will not have a chance. If you really want a koke I would fish in 40ft plus of water and put my 4 lines down 15 feet. You will also catch some beautifull little cutts at that depth. If you have a flasher (Vex/Marcum( this will help finding one. With my other line I would fish for perch, which will keep you busy. I heard a rumor if you fish 100 yards off the dam you might have a better chance of a koke, but remeber there is a spring on the east side, be carefull.

Best,

We did make it up there on Tuesday. Didn't get there as early as we had hoped but it still was a productive day. Alot of perch and bows, a few cutts and two kokes. Thank you guys for the info. It was good to go back there and see some old memories.
