Very nice I hope I can get a dinner like that. I've caught lots if white bass from that lake but its always off the boat never fished it on the ice I guess I better get down there and give it a try congested in the success

[crazy]Just curious, how do you gill fisherman take care of those fish for eating. Do you filet them or de-scale them and gut and remove the head for frying or what?

When I was younger my father and I would go to PV and catch a bucket full, bring them home and my mother would remove the heads, guts and descale them. Then she would cook them by breading and frying, they were fantastic. I would probably do the same thing so that I could get as much meat as possible but fileting them like a perch or crappie would be a lot less work for a mess like that one you got in the photo.

Nice job man, [Wink]

That last pic is making me hungry![Wink] I have never fished UL through the ice. Nervous about the thickness this low in elevation. I'm assuming you are fishing in a harbor? How thick is the ice? If you don't mind sharing, what harbor?

As far as preparing blue gill or any pan fish . . . in my opinion, you will normally catch many of them making the need for an electric fillet knife the way to go. Fillet away my friend.

That was a heckuva two hours!

What a monster from UL. I rarely catch 9" bluegill even from Pelican, and that thing is touching ten pretty clearly. Sweet.

I'd have quit my job to be out with you on a day like that.

I mean, maybe it was just a good day to be out, but I hope I can find a bluegill hideout like that some day for ice fishing.

Try this:
In a bowl, beat eggs.
Rinse fillets and sprinle with garlic salt, dip in eggs and coat with instant mash potato flakes. Fry in about quater inch of olive oil until golden.

Enjoy!!!
