joes valley - brookie_fish - 02-01-2012 [frown] fished joes a few times this month and have some good news and bad news. The fish are hungry! in 3 trips never once iced a chub, However I was able to hook up on several fish. All of them 12- 15 inch splake one had a 3 inch pine cone in its belly and they look like torpedoes with large heads. we had a local derby on saturday and the winner was a 16 inch splake one pound and like seven oz and no one caught any chubs some folks never even got a bite. The tiger musky have been effective but to say to effective. I posted on the big fish challange 2 of the larger ones. My bet is that the chubs are there and their numbers haven't been affected by the TMs. Catching chubs during the winter is usually fairly difficult and doesn't happen with much regularity. What will be interesting is to see what the splake survival rates are now that the reservoir has TMs...and if the TMs influence their growth rates.
