We went to fish the Portneuf and some other area waters, but the Portneuf is high and blown out. I was hoping for some browns, but no luck. We went and soaked in the hot pools instead. Much better use of the time!

And its going to get worse here soon there opening up all the gates for irrigation.. So its going to.be tolling.full tilt for about a month before it starts to settle.back down..

Yeah, we were just hoping to get in ahead of the runoff and irrigation waters. There wasn't much of the day left by the time we got to the Portneuf so we didn't check out many other areas. It was kind of a last minute....maybe we can squeeze a little fishing in,,,,,,kind of a thing. But the Lava pools were nice! Hords of mayflies in a cloud all over downtown Lava. It was amazing to see that many hatching off of the high and muddy water that was tearing through there.
With this hot weather the snow sure is melting at record setting speed. Garden Creek was clear earlier in the day and was dark chocolate within just a few hours, and I thought it was already done with its spring runoff. Guess not!
