17 ft Trophy troller question - TheFishSlayer - 05-09-2012 Hi guys long time no post. I have a 17 ft trophy center console boat. I'd like to put a kicker on it. What size would be best? I primarily fish Willard and my boat is Fiberglas. Thank you in advance. I can troll from 2-7 mph with it and I have a low speed prop that will get me down to walleye speed if needed. I would say 6-8 horse would be right in the wheel house. A 9.9 would work, but you might need a lower speed prop. [signature] Re: [fairwayphilly] 17 ft Trophy troller question - TheFishSlayer - 05-10-2012 Thank you. Now to find one. Best size for your boat, I wo go with a 6hp Yamaha 4-stroke you won't regret it. Just my opinon. Plenty for trolling, I'd like a 9.9 4 stroke only as an emergency if I had engine trouble to get off the lake faster. The 5 hp 2 stroke is a little loud and exhausty but it's been perfect as far as trolling goes. [signature] |
