bucket list???? - Flyfishinglover - 06-14-2012 Im getting closer and closer finish the utah bucket list each year. I was wondering is it easy to catch white bass and wiper from shore??? Whats the best type of bait to use??? I want to at least knock out 2 more off my list this year, so far 2 new fish this year down many more to go. Bucket list to go Bonneville cisco Bonneville cutthroat golden trout Colorado river cutthroat Kokanee Walleye White bass Northern pike wiper tiger muskelluge splake burbot bonytail colorado pikeminnow Humpback Chub Razarback sucker [signature] Re: [Flyfishinglover] bucket list???? - kochanut - 06-14-2012 yes its easy to catch both from shore. i dont know about bait because i only fly fish, im sure others will chime in. a few on your list are going to require some work. goldens for sure. the bottom 4 on your list, if you decide to travel that far to catch them, i would be very very careful with. if you accidently kill one you could get into a ton of trouble. i believe (someone please correct me if im wrong) they are federally (maybe state) protected. For Northern Pike go to Yuba and throw Yellow Perch pattern Rapala's or Swimbaits. For Tiger Muskie go to Pineview and use a blue fox size 3. I have even caught those aggressive fish on Senko worms while targeting bass. For Wiper, we have caught them by throwing out a worm under a bobber while camping at Willard Bay. For Splake go to Fish Lake during the ice season or even ice out. Through the ice use sucker meat on a jig, or even a nightcrawler in 30-15 feet worth of water....trust me you will limit out in no time. During ice out throw a blue fox spinner into the lake....keepin the hooks above the weeds of course. Burbot....go to the gorge, throw some bait of your choice off of a rock point to the bottom. They are not picky at all. Kokanee....use a small ice jig tipped with a crawler at Causey during the ice fishing season, move around alot to find the schools. A fish finder will really help narrow down the search. Here's my list: Carp w/ at least 4" walleye in it's gut. Channel cat with a muskrat (been there done that with mice) Golden Shiner and Fa Thead Minnow twofer That's all I have left, hence the desire to slaughter tilapia with a harpoon in a certain Utah lake where that is currently illegal. [signature] Re: [Stumped] bucket list???? - Jazzperch1 - 06-15-2012 i guess thats true but i dno about that. [signature] Re: [Stumped] bucket list???? - a_bow_nut - 06-15-2012 The only thing that is left on my list is to catch the lake trout in utah lake that jumped out of the water and grabed my phone right out of my hand and took off with it. It still calls me and says thanks for the new phone, but it keeps asking me what the world wide web is. Stupid fish. [signature] |
