Holmes res Waterskiiing?? - MarineSpear - 06-29-2012 I'm hoping I'm mistaken but on the utah fishing reports site it says you can now water ski on Holmes reservior in layton. How on earth is that possible? I've been all around that water and have not seen a single side that a vehicle could come within a 100 feet of the steep banks. Much less a truck hauling a boat could handle. Does this mean pontoons are allowed? It is kinda confusing. Both quotes from the same report. Unless you're the one who has an agreement to waterski, I would think that you can't swim, float, or boat on the reservoir. Seems like it doesn't matter when you have a lake like Porcupine that does allow boats, but there's a speed limit, yet you get yahoos out there skiing. SERIOUSLY! S E R I O U S L Y ! ! ! Like there not enough other places you can go... Just wish they'd stop stuffing 'Bows in there! Re: [MarineSpear] Holmes res Waterskiiing?? - Troll - 07-01-2012 I'm pretty sure this is a case of mistaken identity. I think the res that allows skiing is the one by 21st in Ogden. It has a name like Holmes but they are not one in the same. There is no way to launch a boat big enough to ski behind or even a PWC that could pull skiers at Holmes creek except a helicopter lifting it in and out. But if some one were to try I would want to be there with a video camera, could be worth 10K on AFV. I have yet to see a boat in the water yet, but it is set up to run skiers. Wondering if the lake is private and they allow folks to fish but can possibly sell rights to the pond; ex: allow someone to water ski. [signature] Re: [RealCaster] Holmes res Waterskiiing?? - Troll - 07-01-2012 I guess I was thinking about Goode Pond in Ogden. Sorry to hear about the bouy's. Have they been in there with a dozer to make a ramp? You could probably get a truck and trailer down the road to the dam, but then where? Seems like the only spot would be the east corner of the dam. And man, after the water starts to go down, what a muddy mess that could be. [signature] Re: [Troll] Holmes res Waterskiiing?? - RealCaster - 07-01-2012 Maybe they drop the boat in via helicopter![ ![]() [signature] Re: [MarineSpear] Holmes res Waterskiiing?? - Fly_Flicker - 07-02-2012 Definitely apllied to the wrong water. This quote was for Hobbs pond - a few miles to the north. Hobbs does have a water ski club using it three days a week and is 10 times larger than Holmes creek. [signature] Re: [MarineSpear] Holmes res Waterskiiing?? - back2fish - 07-02-2012 It is Hobbs pond....The new trophy reg pond. I was there a few Wednesdays ago and they were out skiing. And you can have motor-less watercraft on it. The water ski club has been out there for years, they were very nice. Company pond, as I knew it as a kid, directly east of Valley View golf course, is a no float pond. Then you have Adams reservoir directly west of the golf course, and you can have motor-less water craft on it. I golf up there quite a bit, please post a report... I would love to fish up there before or after golf. [signature] |
