What's your preferred rig for trolling? - Gvec - 07-02-2012

When trolling for trout, what rig do you prefer? I have a number of reels with anything from 4 to 12 lb test. I prefer to use my poles with 8lb p line and run a 6lb leader.

Anyone think running a 12lb line with 6lb leaders too heavy?

FYI, I plan on pulling flashers as well. Thanks!

Flashers then would be a tad over kill. I use 10lb line with a phebe type lure with a swival of course from Thompson. Name escapes me now, but I've caught alot of stock trout with it. Bought them at Walmart. [Looks similar to this][Image: s7_119957_renderset_17?hei=127&wid=127]Mepps have worked well for me as well and tie on a Luhr jenson Jet Diver to get it down to 10-12ft for the summer and your good to go. Good Luck.

I like that one, I will have to look and see if they have one at my local store.

I use 20 lb line then I can drop my leads to any size I like after that. it realy depends on what I am targeting as to what my lead will be.

of corse I troll in the great lakes so I genneraly fish for BIg Fish. [:p]

so its nothing for me to throw on a 20-30 lb lead.
