Southern California Saltwater Report 10/30-11/5 - JapanRon - 11-01-2003 Southern California Saltwater Report for October 30, 2003 (Thursday) Way Up North- Availa and Monterey Only a boat out of Patriots got out today. Up North- Channel Islands Most boats didn't go out and again one landing's boat went out. LA Area- Catalina Island Calico, bonito and barracuda. Further South- San Clemente No reliable info. San Diego- Local and Offshore Low angler numbers and no real bite going on locally right now. As usual a few isolated boat do make out! Offshore the bite continues. LA Local Calico, bonito, and a few mixed species make up the SMB and boats plying south of Rocky Point. South coast had a few yellows but nothing spectacular. LA Area- Catalina Island Fish there Anglers NOT Further South- San Clemente Same here San Diego- Local and Offshore Low anglers and low fish counts locally with offshore boats doing well on albies, yellowfin. and skippies. LA Local Weather caused many boat not to go out. SMB MDR did fairly well. LA area was miserable and the South Coast just a little better with a fair bass bite. JapanRon [signature] Re: [JapanRon] Southern California Saltwater Report 10/30-11/5 - JapanRon - 11-01-2003 Southern California Saltwater Reports for Nov 1, 2003 (Saturday) Way Up North- Avila and Monterey Limits of rockfish. Up North- Channel Islands Lots of rockfish and a mixed bag of bass, lings, etc. LA Area- Catlina Island Calicos, a few yellows, bonito, and barracuda. Further South- San Clemente Heard nothing fromt the boats that usually do the weekend trips. I'd check out the South Coast landings for info. San Diego- Local and Offshore Local fishing is weird. Some 3/4 days are catching 65 yellows another 100+ skipjacks kinda wild. Offshore guys doing the 1.5 day are doing good on yellows and albies. LA Local Mixed bag of the usual (basses, bonito, sculpin, halibut, etc.) local fish. SMB fishing pretty good. San Pedro and LA areas OK with the South Coast guys getting decent to very good numbers of yellows. JapanRon [signature] Re: [JapanRon] Southern California Saltwater Report 10/30-11/5 - JapanRon - 11-03-2003 Southern California Saltwater Report for November 2, 2003 (Sunday) The Blue Horizon did good with 10 anglers catching 36 yellows, 1 mako, and 7 yellowfin Tuna last trip. Way Up North- Avila and Monterey Limits of rockfish. Checkout the special deal offered by Patriot landing. Up North- Channel Islands Truely mixed bag with good numbers. Port Hueneme boat had 36 lings with everything else. LA Area- Catalina Island Calico, barracuda, yellows, bonito. Further South- San Clemente Check the South Coast landings offices for details. San Diego- Local and Offshore Local bite was good not depending on boat and offshore 1.5 are still doing well. LA Local If it's there, it's biting. Not big numbers except down on the south coast, but there is a chance at skippies, yellows, etc. on the 3/4s and some 1/2 dayer's JapanRon [signature] Re: [JapanRon] Southern California Saltwater Report 10/30-11/5 - JapanRon - 11-04-2003 Southern California Saltwater Report for November 3, 2003 (Monday) Way Up North- Avila and Monterey 1 boat rockfish limites other landing were NO GO. Up North- Channel Island Mixed bag for one landing. Including albies.. LA Area- Catalina Island The usual scratchy bite on a good mixed bag. Further South- San Clemente No news San Diego- local and Offshore Most of the boat going out had less than ten anglers locally and fishing not that great. Offshore great for multi-dayers. LA Local 10 to 15 anglers max crowded the boats for a medocare bite except for certain boats one being the Persuit and others belonging to Newport, Davey's and Dana Wharf. JapanRon [signature] Re: [JapanRon] Southern California Saltwater Report 10/30-11/5 - JapanRon - 11-05-2003 Southern California Saltwater Report for November 4, 2003 (Tuesday) Huge turnout of anglers on the open-party boats along the coast, if they even went out. ha ha Most boats had at least 8 or 9 anglers! Way Up North- Avila and Monterey Patriot was the only landing with boats out with good rockfishing. Up North- Channel Islands If there were any boats out, I didn't here about it. LA Area- Catalina Island The counts indicate somebody went to the island with not much results on the calicos, barracuda, and bonito there. Further South- San Clemente Should have some yellow action but little news. San Diego- Local and Offshore The offshore multi-day boats are doing good but the local bite is pretty miserable except for just a few lucky boats that hit the skipjacks. LA Local Mixed bag but still very scratchy except for the south coast boats which presently consistantly get decent counts. Newport, Davey's, and Dana Wharf do well with my money on the Victory and Premier 3/4 day boats up closer to Long Beach. JapanRon [signature] Re: [JapanRon] Southern California Saltwater Report 10/30-11/5 - JapanRon - 11-06-2003 Southern California Saltwater Report for November 5, 2003 (Wednesday) Yellowfins on the local boats along with those pesky skipjack. 3/4 day Premier, Freelance, Sport King, and Enterprise do goooooooooooooood. Way Up North- Avila and Monterey Virg's had the only boats out today. Rockfish. Up North- Channel Islands Calico and Sand Bass bite good along with other species. LA Area- Catalina Island Calico, Barracuda, and Bonito must be there but the yellowfins are just to attractive to make the trip for the 3/4 day boats. ha ha Further South- San Clemente Little information. Please call the landings for specifics on the Island trips. San Diego- Local and Offshore Local fishing pretty good for the few boats going out getting yellowtail, yellowfin, and skipjack. Multi-day doing their usual runs with average results. LA Local Bonito, sculpin and a few bass made up the majority of the counts. Few anglers on the 1/2 days. 3/4 day boats out in the Catalina channel catching yellowfin. JapanRon [signature] |
