Johnson 25 ? - castnshoot - 11-11-2012

I have a Johnson 25 hp that I am having problems with.

It ran great at it's last location at 300' above to 150' below sea level.

I now have it at a lake in southern Utah @ 5600" above sea level, and it runs like crap.

I'm hoping it is just a matter of changing the jet size.

Does any body know of a reliable person that could take care of that or maybe rebuild the carb. if it needs it?

I'm near Beaver Utah.

What year is the engine? I'm thinking it will have mixture adjustment needle valves for both high & low speed operation.

I brought a Johnson 35 out to Utah from Michigan. All I had to do was adjust the one carb mixture knob (lean-rich) on the front of the cowling. I had to turn it all the way to one side. Then I removed the small screw in the front of the knob, took off the knob and pointed it in the other direction, then replaced the knob and screw. Then I re-adjusted the carb again.
The knob would not turn enough in one direction so I had to remove that screw so I could continue to turn the adjuster. It worked and I never had to rejet the carb. I sold the boat to a friend and he is still using the motor. Its been over 10 years now and the motor still runs great.
