guess the size - duckdog1us - 11-19-2012 a recent post made me wounder how some people judge their fish if the fish is over 28 inches or so i always stop in at the store and have it weighted so here is a few pictures i'll let you try and tell me what they weigh in a day or two i'll tell you all how long and what the actual weights are [inline "1 (2).jpg"] [inline 2.jpg] [inline 3.jpg] [inline "4 (1).jpg"] [inline 5.jpg] [inline "6 (1).jpg"] [inline 7.jpg] [inline "8 (1).jpg"] [signature] Re: [duckdog1us] guess the size - CatchinCompany - 11-19-2012 Great post!! 3 5 5 7 6 12 6 7 Of topic, but did you make it to starvy? Or they catch a fish, don't measure it, and then claim it was a 20" fish. That really has never made a lot of sense to me. If you catch a big fish, call it a big fish...why even bring weight into the equation if you haven't weighed it? Guessing weight and length can be very tough to do. Only way to tell how much a fish weighs is to weight it. Only weigh to tell the length of a fish is to measure it. Guessing is weird to me. Ever since I started using a scale, I've been very surprised as to how big a 5lb trout really is. Hard to guess with fish held at arms length in the camera making their hands look HUGE too, no idea how big the child is. No ruler, lay it next to a rod and mark it. Then measure when you get home. If you have a tape ruler, get length and girth and you can calculate a weight. This topic was brought up because of me I am sure. It doesn't matter to me what a fish weighs or how long it is, just seeing people catching them and showing them off is great. People work very hard to get that Trophy. They deserve the bragging rights. But, to have a picture posted that is a guess and way off guess from common knowledge is not right. Sticking the fish in the camera ans saying it is this big does not make it so. This is MY opinion...that is all.
