Southern California Saltwater Report 11/6-12 - JapanRon - 11-06-2003 Southern California Saltwater Reports for November 6, 2003 (Thursday) Angler numbers fall with the fish counts. For a number of days now, either boats have not gone out or boats were going out with 5,7, 10 anglers. Fishing ain't that bad guys IF YOU GET ON THE RIGHT BOAT! Some Good Bets include the Persuit, Premier, Victory, Monte Carlo, Enterprise, Sport King, Freelance, Sum Fun, Dana Pride just to name a few. Way Up North- Avila and Monterey No boats out except Chris's with limits of rockfish. Up North- Channel Island Mixed bag of species but not limit catches. Few boats out. LA Area- Catalina Island Few anglers, few boats, low catch numbers but calicos, barracuda, bonito, whitefish, blue perch are all there. Further South- San Clemente Trips should start there from tomorrow night so check out some of the south coast landings for boats. San Diego- Local and Offshore Lots of local boats stayed at the dock. Some boats went out with 5 anglers for totals of 15, 30, 45 fish. Offshore boats still working for the fish. LA Local Majority of 1/2 day and 3/4 day boats stayed at the dock! The few that went out had 5, 10, 15 anglers. South Coast did better with yellowfin and skipjack number respectable. Up North- Channel Islands NO BOATS OUT! LA Area- Catalina Island The usual suspects are there but not many boats are going with the chances of yellowfin and skippies so close to home. I suspect the Persuit went to the island as they had over 15 yellows. Further South- San Clemente Should know something by now. But...... San Diego- Local and Offshore Local boats are not getting the yellows, YFT or skippies. Offshore guys are again getting the albies along with the other big three species. LA Local Yellowfin and skippies take the spotlight with bonito, bass and lots of sculpin and rockfish taking up the slack. South Coast boat still doing the best overall. Most 3/4 day boats are getting some YFT and skippies. Way Up North- Avila and Monterey limits of rockfish for all. Up North- Channel Islands Nice mixed bag for the landings going out. LA Area- Catalina Island Nothing spectacular Further South- San Clemente Nothing in the news that's spectacular. San Diego- Local and Offshore Local bite is miserable with just a minimal mixed bag with the offshore bite going strong. LA Local- Lots of sculpin, bonito, bass, etc. Nothing great going on so it scratching. YFT and skippie bite down. A BUNCH OF BOATS SNUCK OVER TO CATALINA AND KILLED THEM TODAY!!! 3/4 day Persuit, Patriot (south), and Freelance did good on the yellows, etc. Enterprise did good on yellows too. Way Up North- Avila and Monterey Lots of boats went out of landing other than Chris's and did well on the rockfish. Up North- Channel Islands CISC did really well and other landing go a real mixed bag of fish. LA Area- Catalina Island Lots of 3/4 day boats got yellows along with other fish. Further South- San Clemente Looked like fish were caught here too from the south coast landing counts. San Diego- Local and Offshore Local was pretty quiet with the offshore guys getting the yellows, YFT, etc. LA Local Mixed bag with tons of bonito, bass and other fish along with a few YFT and Yellows. JapanRon [signature] Re: [JapanRon] Southern California Saltwater Report 11/6-12 - JapanRon - 11-11-2003 Southern California Saltwater Report for Novemeber 10, 2003 (Monday) Anglers numbers down but Yellows stilling be caught in good numbers by boats like the ?3/4 day? Persuit up here and a number of other boats from Newport, Davey's and, Dana Wharf. Way Up North- Avila and Monterey Chris's boat got limits on rockfish Up North- Channel Island One landing got 19 lings for 19 anglers. LA Area- Catalina Island I think a number of 3/4 day boats are going there with no-too-good results. Down South San Clemente Sorry, please call the landings for island trip results. San Diego- Local and Offshore Local angler and fish counts down. Offshore slowing but OK on the usual 3 species. LA Local Slow very slow!
