Tibble Fork Conditions - richmac1 - 01-16-2013 Just wondering how the ice looks? My boys are getting anxious to go somewhere else besides UL. I was wanting to take them up to tibble fork saturday but want to make sure the ice is safe first. PM's welcome. Thanks in advance for the input. Might be better to drive to deer creek or rockport maybe even Jordanelle rather than take a chance with the boys.. That being said I havent been up there but I think there are a couple post from a couple days ago. The "springs" always cause dangerous ice conditions near the dam. One can usually access the ice from the middle of the lake and get on safely, with thick ice, but be very careful as you move around. I've had some fun days up there with the kids in previous years on sledding/tubing and fishing combo trips, but the lake has to be cautiously approached. There's always a good 50 yards in the middle straight out from the shedding hill, right in the middle of the reservoir. I walked away from the dam and open water and still it was 2" of slush and 1-2 " of ice out about 30' as well the ice started cracking around me so I blasted out of that place. Let's say it's safer to ice fish on the community pond then that lake. I've been catching mostly dinkers bows and catfish if you lucky. Personally I know there's some nice fish in tibble out there but I'm not risking my life on that unsafe ice as well it's only 30 min from me and I'm still refusing to ice fish it unless if most of the lake ice up with 2.5-3" minimum with no slush.
