Wait and see - flygoddess - 01-16-2013 It finally happened. Just what I warn everyone about the cold and rod tips. About 6 or 8" off the tip of my T3. Sent it in and I realize they no longer make them. Do they have a supply to fix or are they going to replace? Again the replacement problem, with which rod? This is the first year generation on this rod and cost over $600. They then put different hardware on and lowered the price like the Hydros to the Helios. Thing here is that they have two choices to replace it with. No more Hydros which would be close. The Access at $395? The Superfine at $495. (but problem there is the T3 is tip and SF is full, not that I would mind, but they exchange equal)? Or the Helios at $795? So who will sacrifice, me or Orvis. Interested in seeing how this plays out. It was a great rod for big trout in tight canyon spaces. Orvis replaced it with another T3 3 wt but much longer and I didn't need that. Remember if you don't get what you want replacing it they also guarantee to refund your money at any time during the 25 year warranty as an option. They'll work with you so email or call them if there are any issues. Make sure you are satisfied with the replacement. My fingers are crossed for you! [signature] Re: [flygoddess] Wait and see - Tarponjim - 02-05-2013 So any news, did they fix or replace with ??? I ask because some bozo I know broke a 4-pc, 8wt. Hydros a couple weeks ago high-sticking a tarpon at the boat. I sent it in last week. They told me they had parts for the Hydros when I got the return authorization, so I probably won't be getting a new Helios 2.[:/] [signature] Re: [Tarponjim] Wait and see - flygoddess - 02-05-2013 No news yet. Again, I hope they notice it is a first generation. Even the Hydros was $100 less. So I have no idea how they will handle the equal exchange. The logical would be to let me pony up the difference of $160. for the H2. I am not sure how to find out the status on the repair unfortunately. [signature] Re: [flygoddess] Wait and see - flygoddess - 02-13-2013 Got my repair back yesterday and it is the T3. So apparently they have a nice supply of blanks. Looks great, good job. [signature] Re: [flygoddess] Wait and see - Tarponjim - 02-13-2013 Mine came back today, and it was the same Hydros with two new sections, so they are keeping some spares around for sure. No Charge though!! They even paid the shipping back to me. Orvis Rocks! [signature] |
