I was there this morning from 7-10, North side of the island. Ice was plenty thick once I got on. Some of the edges were slushy but I was able to find access easily. Caught one nice 17" Bow. about 7:30. No other bites. Bow was caught in 30' water on the bottom.

Re: [panfisher] Deer Creek - utwalleye - 02-06-2013

I was up there yesterday (tuesday) and walked right on the ice in the morning, but getting off at 4 pm the edge first foot was water at the ramp but off to the sides were fine. the fishing sucked for just about all the 10 guys we seen out there. we fished out from the island in 45 feet of water looking for perch. I forgot my gps so I couldn't tell where the rr road was so I drill 32 holes all over. had about 5 bites, seen very few fish on sonar. fished with about 20 different lures.

They usually do a good job of putting caution tape and barriers up afterward. They do this every year.

Re: [macscabin] Deer Creek - Fishrmn - 02-06-2013

Looks to me like they walked away and left it. I guess because it's right on the ramp and up against the shore that they're not worried about it. By the way, how do we get a little bit of Windex for the camera?

Re: [Darkcloud] Deer Creek - TubeDude - 02-07-2013

[cool][#0000FF]Nice response.

Deer Creek (and most other lakes) is not a big aquarium full of fish that are always ready to bite. The fish are often bunched up in one small area or another in search of food, oxygen, warmer/colder temps or whatever. And that can change from day to day...or even during the same day.

DD1us knows Deer Creek very well but still has to look for the fish on most trips. He DOES use some techniques that few other people know about...or could duplicate. So just knowing where to fish is not always the answer either.

Bad form to slam someone for politely asking for information that someone else might not want to post on an open forum.

Yes and if you give my comment any thought and understand what duckdog is doing and how hes doing it, anybody can catch fish. Maybe he will be willing to share some info for you, but you can bet it will be a pm if he does. Like I said before its not always where, its how and what.

Aint that right duckdog[Wink]

Re: [GottaBite] Deer Creek - klam - 02-07-2013

I visited the UHP at the ramp and watched them do their annual winter dive certification.
Fished the island and couldn't get the fish to bite. Last week I caught fish only 6 to 12 feet below the ice. Today the fish were coming through at all depths.

Getting on and off the ice was better than last week. Didn't break through the crust at the edges today.

The 3 inches of snow on the ice make walking very easy and provide sure footing.
