Frabill 101 - appleb - 02-19-2013 I'm trying to find out more information about this reel and I'm wondering if this reel is suitable for handling 15lb ice braid line? Or is it more of a light line reel? I will be going for whitefish and lake trout. I think they get up to 10 lbs in my area. Quite often I use 8 lb while fishing for walleye and pike even I know that they can reach in excess of 20lbs. I use a steal or florocarbon leader to handle the teath. you should be able to get away with 8-10 lb quality line. this will give you more footage to play with. to answer your question, yes it will take a 20lb test line, but that is like shooting a squirl with buck shot. lighter line meens more hookups, a good rod and set your drag to run if needed and you will land more fish than you can put in your belly. |
