What bass club do you belong to? - HATH - 02-25-2013 Sell your club to me. I'd like to join one but I'd like to hear the pros and cons of your club. I was close to joining one recently mainly because they fished local waters (utah county), but when I found out each team tournament (monthly) is $185 I figured I'd keep searching. If you answer who, what , when, where, why, and how of your club, that should be a good start. Thanks guys. My advice, go fish a club event with a couple of different clubs and see how they work together, then join the one you feel suits you best. Each club has it's own personality and you have to find the one that you are comfortable with. Great way to learn the sport and make lasting friends. Re: [HATH] What bass club do you belong to? - RangerRat - 02-26-2013 I agree with Therapist. I've been in several clubs over the years and all have good members and bad members. Some of the clubs are very serious fishermen while others just have alot of fun. Make sure the club is well organized and the members aren't in it just for the money. (some are) My opinion is that the Utah Bass Federation is not for the average fisherman. You gotta have money (lots) and you gotta put up with guys that will do anything to win or keep you from winning. Just my observations. I'd have to find a group that is more of the "fun" sort due to time constraints, but the concept is intriguing to me. Some will do anything to win. You can join at the ramp and can prefish right up till tourny time. 5 lb smallies are being caught at Walcott and Milner is back. The best "sticks" are in MV Bassmasters and if you want to compete you have to prefish alot and that means money. There are guys that fish Idaho, Wy and Utah qualifiers that do anything to win, so if you want to have fun stay away from that program. I fish Basshunters with the wife and she enjoys a day on the water with folks with the same goal, It's all about taking care of the resource and having fun. I'd drag my boat to Utah for a tourney, my oldest son has been fishing with the UVU club and has been bragging it up. Coffee can tournies are cool, that way you don't need a permit. Tight lines. PS: If you only fish once a year it should be the DRY CREEK OPEN, go to their website and check it out. [signature] |
