I guess it is Wiper Time - wiperhunter2 - 05-05-2013
Wiperslayer and I hit willard again today(05-04-13), from 6:30am to 1pm. It was the best wiper catching we have had for a lot of years. Thirty made it in the boat most were wipers but we also caught a crappie and walleye. We only keep the 20" eye. Most of the wipers were the smaller 12 to 15 inchers but we also caught three over 20 with one that was a solid 5 lber[cool]. Here are a few pics.

And I thought we were doing good with 13 in the boat today. Was there from about 1230 till 700 pm didnt get anything till about 430. caught evrything between 430 and 700. What a great first trip of the year. Oh and everything we caught was wiper.

After we left you, we went back to the feedlot and found some Wiper that wanted our jigs. We wound up with about the same results as you had. We also got some Crappie , Smallies and a Catfish.
Most Wiper were small but 5 were big.
It was a great day on the Bay.

Welcome to the site tubbyama. Yes, all fish were caught trolling. No, we could not see them on the finder before they hit. We were trolling, for the most part with side planners.

I'm glad to hear you guys got into the fish Dale. Right when you were leaving, we were coming by to give you some help but your motor started and you took off. I was a good day for sure, I just hope the eyes turn on soon.

Thanks for posting this great report guys. I'm glad to hear that not only has the oil spill not detered the fishing (apparently) but the wipers are turning on a little early this year. I think that after this report, I (and lots of other guys) will be hitting the bay this weekend.

I went out on the bay today 5-5-13 couldn't find a wiper but i did run into a couple of other fish. Thought I would post because I like fish pictures(even the small ones)

Beautiful.
I was out there on 4-6 at about 5pm, mosquitos were very thick and I was on the bank.
I ended up catching 3 from the bank, one was 13 inches, one was 16 inches and the last was 19". All were released. Very good fight on the 16".

Very good report, I still haven't caught one. Got my boat out Sunday and ended up at Echo. My son got a rainbow fly fishing and I got a 19 inch rainbow. Cool thing is it had a tag on it. Echo Resort on one side 26 on the other. I hear there is 30 of them in there. I let it go, the contest doesn't start till the 24th. [:/] good first time out though.
I'll post with a pic. when i get them from my son.
