Nice to see the Walleye. Did you get them pitching jigs or trolling worm harneses/Rapala's? I haven't had a great deal of success at Yuba for them...

Nice job!!! Them walleye look tasty. I have caught smallmouth out of yuba but no largemouth. Was there any size to it? Great report.

The LMB aka Large mouth bass what about 10" long it was the first fish of the day. I had never seen a bass small or large caught out of yuba, but this was my buddys 3 LMB all have been small. No red eyes so its a LMB. The walleye was a nice surprise and both came on Rapalas in the shallows throwing for pike. These were my first walleye from Yuba all fish were released to fight again.

Red eyes doesn't determine whether or not it is a LMB or SMB. The position of the mouth in relation to the eyes is what seperates the two species.

As far as Yuba goes it is just a SMB water.

Still glad to see they can hang on. I have caught a few SMB myself out of Yuba and I have yet to catch anything big.

I did take a boat ride with a local guy last year (his pike pic is in resturant at Oasis) and he let me scroll through some other pics on his camera. I did see 2 SMB's in there that were 15 plus inches. He said he has only caught 2 nice ones in 10 years. I feel it may take me just as long to get a SMB of that size out of Yuba.

Interesting what's with the red eyes. Ill make sure to take a pic nextime the bass waslight green looked more like a lmb and when II'm not sure I thought the eyes were a dead give away. Good info to know

Yeah my buddy said the same thing about the red eye's on some rockport bass. They were smallies. Even the color of the body doesn't matter.

The position of the eyes in relation to the mouth is the determining factor everytime.

There is the occasional lmb in Yuba, nothing big. I caught a couple smallies from there this year so far. One was on a bed in the middle of a an old campfire ring made of rocks. The smallies are pretty plain, prolly why he thought it was one of those ugly largies.

I believe that there are largies in there. I was just hoping they were overlooked and huge!
