Pond and New Inhabitant? - calepo - 06-10-2013 I recently had a pond put in my backyard (see Pond.jpg) and my landscaper harvested some wild plants from the Kern River, CA area and brought them down to plant in my pond. A few weeks later my pond was swarming with baby fish of various shapes and sizes. This is a picture of one that did not survive (fish.jpg). Anybody have an idea as to what it is? My friends and I are stumped. [signature] Re: [calepo] Pond and New Inhabitant? - theangler - 06-10-2013 WOW! What an absolutely gorgeous pond!! If I had to guess I would say it's a shad? It's actually a swimming pond and it's getting use now as the temps have risen. But, I never intended to swim with the fish! LOL A friend had said that he thought it might be a shad, as well. If I can get pictures of the other types of fish (that look like trout?) I'll post them here, too. I bough some koi and gold fish and stuck them in the fish 'section' and they've had babies, too...so the pond is alive with baby fish. [signature] |
