I plan on hiking to some creeks and lakes while I'm in Yellowstone and want to be safe. What bear spray would you recommend?

I bought the Sabre brand not sure if its any better than the others never encountered a bear.
Take look at this page great resource also once you get your Bear spray find a place up wind and spray it so you have an idea of how the spray disperses.

A Bear Bell would be worth the investment -- you should make some noise to scare away momma bear..

I've been told that you can tell the difference between grizzley scat and black bear scat. Grizzley scat smells like pepper and has little bells in it, black bear not so much.[:p]

I was going to reference the difference in scat as well! Basically it comes down to your proficiency with a hand gun. I generally carry both when archery hunting Montana .357Mag on the hip and bear spray on the pack. I bought the counterassault pepper spray you should check out their website. After encountering a few different griz I can tell you first hand that it is very important to be prepared.
As mentioned.... I would pack both.
