I had one of my best friends, Tony Morganti, and his son, Kaleb, visit from Australia. They were able to meet me in St. George for a couple days, and we were able to slip out to Sand Hollow for some fishing. We went out early in the morning on two different days, and we released the “Kraken” on some bass! Here is what we did to land us a few toads on those hot summer days out at Sand Hollow. When we went & the conditions:Summertime bass fishing at Sand Hollow has some seriously warm temperatures! I think it got up to 100+ degrees over the two days we went out and caught bass. The water temperature was in the high 70′s. Smack in the middle of July, it was one of those picture-perfect, clear, hot summer days on the water at Sand Hollow. We only fished in the early morning when the outside temperature was bearable. We were on the water at 6:00am when the park opened and off the lake at 10:00am when we could feel the sweat beading up on our foreheads. I’m glad we got there early because the water was calm, and it wasn’t chopped up from all the recreational boaters. Where we caught fish:We only fished two spots each morning. We floated up and down the East shoreline 95% of the time, and once for a short period of time, we moved out off the point of the shallow island. Check out the map below to see where we fished.Sand Hollow is red hot right now. Let me know if anyone has any other solid "go-to" baits to catch piles of Largemouths. [signature] |
