bait question - Trout_lover - 03-28-2014
Can I use smallmouth bass to use as cutbait or do I need to use chubs or suckers? I hear the bigger trout are biting on cutbait at Panguitch Lake. I don't want to do anything illegal so I thought I'd find out first.

Not legal to use smallmouth bass as bait on any waters in Utah. You should get a copy of the 2014 Utah Fishing Guidebook, or read it Online.

No. You cannot use SMB for bait.

This is not specifically targeted at you TL, but it amazes me how many people, on this and other forums, won't obtain a copy of the regulaions and READ them. Easily obtained online or at the nearest sporting goods store and fairly easy to understand. Within 10 minutes you can KNOW everything you need to about the rules for the waters you fish. Prevents a lot of potential problems with the local conservation officer should you happen to be checked.
