Diamond fork - Justice_beaver - 04-30-2014

I'm headed down in that area this weekend. Wondering if anyone has suggestions of what to use. Gonna have my fly pole and normal pole. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Caddis flies and nymphs. Bring something to cover your mouth as that hatch can be prolific and hard to keep from inhaling those bugs. The bigger fish in there tend to ignore caddis so if that's the case break out some bigger nymphs (8-12)- prince, stone or salmonflies. This can hold true even while you are suffocating in them yourself. Don't blame the bigger fish- why bothering eating popcorn if you can have steak. If one part of the stream doesn't produce just change locations. Never done anything but fly fish there but I think people do OK with Mepps and Jakes lures.

I've done decent there with blue fox spinners, silver or gold. Also done decent floating a night crawler.

On that note of big fish like steak... get yourself some plastic bass minnows rigged on a dropshot hook and jerk em through some of the deeper holes. I've caught plenty of big browns and cutts (when there were really nice cutts in there) on that rig with a split shot about three inches or so in front of your plastic.
