Fishing Partner Friday! - Duck-Slayer - 05-04-2014 Well went fishing with my best bud Neil on May 2 - Friday... i.e. the title, took him too the best smallmouth spot I could get too with the low water in the snake, was trying too get him his personal best, but for some reason they were biting light on his little jig..... I was using a rip n rap a small spinner bait and a large spinner bait and even caught a couple on Neil's sinking rapala..... had a great time with a good friend, Matt start out with a small one 17 1/2" I believe this was the big one at 18 1/2" Followed by 2 18"er's Than I got a cool sequence with Neil catching a nice one than a pic of it jumping and the hook pulling, you can see the fish in the air and his jig half way between the fish and his pole..... I managed to sneak down to the Snake last Tuesday for a few minutes. Mainly just out to let the dogs run but after a bit I had to cast a few. All I had to fish with was my 5' Ugly Stik rigged with a black and yellow Panther Martin. Landed 7 SM in 12 casts all between 2 and 4 lbs. Keep a couple and we had a great meal of fish tacos that night. Wife is coming home tomorrow so I'm hoping I can start fishing again. Can't wait to get out there again. I definitely had my personal best hooked a few times, but they just didn't want to stay hooked up.
