Fished Lucky Peak today and it was producing. We picked up our two limits from 9-12. 10-15 on the cable. Nice fatties up to 16". Mike

I always use the same combos. Wedding ring w/ double red hooks and green/red beads. Pink R & K mini-hoochie.

On the way into work yesterday morning, I passed a guy towing a Lund ttoward LP. And I'm not ashamed to say I was feeling very jealous.
I assume you were after Koke's? Does fishing for Koke at LP pretty much require a boat to troll?

Absolutely! Pretty much the same anywhere that kokes are. You don't have to troll however; when I was young...so long ago!....and we fished Lake Pend Oreille, there was commercial fishing for kokanee. They would hook their boats together in a large circle, and spread canned creamed corn in the middle. The corn slick would occasionally drop a kernel to slowly sink, keeping the kokanee there. They would fish with a bare red hook, and catch large numbers of them. The bare hook is interesting in that the method of fishing for their big brother the sockeye in Lake Washington is trolling a size 0 or 00 dodger with a bare red Gamakatsu hook trailing. I am convinced that the shoepeg corn (or a maggot) is necessary when kokanee fishing, but who knows. Conversely, the Seattlites may not have discovered shoepeg when sockeye fishing!! People are resistant to change. I remember when they started using hoochies in Shasta Lake. People here would say "they might work over there, but they sure don't work here". How that has changed. No, I haven't used garlic. I didn't use anything last trip up and it worked well, but I usually soak 'em in Pautske's Nectar, which can be found in Boise at Turners. Its hard to tell whether any of it works well or not. I use the Pautskes simply because it dyes it pink. Do you do better with the garlic, Curt? Mike

Some of the research I have been doing says to try it . I am just getting ready to try and catch some . I just rigged two poles with leadcore . I dont have down riggers . They plant 250,000 in Island Park , and I would like to catch some .

Let us know how you do. Since it is higher in elevation than most koke places, the bite might occur later. I say that because I fished kokanee in Payette Lake starting in the 60's. The bite didn't get active until mid-June. Mike
