Trolling Henry's - Tazasorus - 10-09-2014 Got a chance to troll Henry's during this beautiful weather break. Put the boat in on the west side and motored over to Staley's to start the morning. Had my first fish on in about five minutes, a nice brookie. All the weed pushed us out of that corner though so we moved over to the hatchery. We spent most of the day trolling in between the hatchery and wild rose. In between constantly removing salad off of our lures we managed to land 25 quality fish. Bigger than the normal cookie cutters. I have a firm belief if you troll big lures you will catch bigger fish and it has proved true many times here. I ended up keeping a nice brookie and this beautiful cutty. A little shallots, some lemon zest, heavy whipping cream, orange juice, white wine, crusted with a pecan, egg and flour fried fish made a nice end of the day. I am still fiddling with the go pro. I got some of the action on it. I hope you enjoy. I also got a nice quality picture. If you get a chance I would suggest getting up there while the weather is good. The fish ended up being 22.5 inches and 4.8 lbs. Some good friends were there as well and KILLED them on small flies[ ![]() Nice thing is the bigger cutts like that still taste good. I would love to fish side by side with you trolling two size 8-10 flies on one side of the boat and your bigger lure on the other. I'm not sure the experiment would work though since I usually troll the flies really slow and add motion with the rod tip. How fast are you trolling? Windriver [signature] Re: [windriver] Trolling Henry's - curt69 - 10-09-2014 I trolled for 2 hours and bait fished for 1.5 . Caught 2 very small fish . The fish are shallow at the state boat ramp . They are pulling the docks out today . [signature] Re: [windriver] Trolling Henry's - Tazasorus - 10-09-2014 I usually troll at 1.1 to 1.3 but because of the moss I was at 2.0. What was funny was my mono on top with spoon got mossed up about every five minutes where the lead line out one color also with a spoon would get mossed up about every twenty minutes....Go figure. And the large lure theory doesn't go for me on every lake. But in my experience of Henry's it works for me. Two years ago I put my favorite spoon up against my buddy's favorite lure...hint massive panther. He out caught me, by only five fish but he out caught me. On the way home he did mention that by sight it looked that my fish were a whole lot bigger than the ones he had been landing. Could it be the lure???????? ![]() [signature] Re: [Tazasorus] Trolling Henry's - flygoddess - 10-10-2014 Stick with that Lure, for sure! I agree with Wind however. I have caught many 28" to 32" and one 36" out of Henry's using a size 10 woolly bugger or a #12 Haresear.[ ![]() But I am confident in what I use. I think that is a must.
