cuonthelake, Chickamauga, Crappie, 10/09/14, Stellar Day - FishNews - 10-13-2014 Yesterday was a stellar day for me even though my side scan/down scan decided to go on strike with the Bird, However, I didn't let that stop me from finding crappie. Alot of the community docks have been beat down and fished so much that finding more than one or 2 quality fish becomes a chore, so that has pushed me to get out there and find new spots, drops, ledges, blowdowns, and docks that you would never think would have crappie on them. Thats what I have done and it has paid off big time, yesterday, I had a limit of crappie n about an hour on just on of those spots. <br /> It was amazing, I picked thru the best of the best from that spot for the live well. I moved on to check a couple other places since the bite, current, moon phase, weather was all lined up for a perfect day on the water. Every place I check held crappie, full of minnows, pooping all in the boat with every catch. Solid thick shoulder crappie, with aggressive bite anywhere from 15-20fow on a 7-12 count, in 71 degree water 1/32 jig for docks, 1/16 jig for ledges, 1/16 weedless for tree tops. I even found keeper crappie under some new to me 5 fow docks surrounded in grass. Plus 4 spots that crushed my crappie jigs! Minnows where everywhere around certain docks that where the key to catching some nice ones! (note grass around docks big key)<br /> I had to end my day early when DK called to let me know storms where coming, I meant up with him and donated my limit to his friend tp44, and followed them back home, with his new G-3 carving a smooth trail for me in choppy water. <br />All fish caught using BG 2" slab slay'rs, my fav color is below in pics. Sure wish I could be off for the Forgotten Child Tx, but couldn't find any takers for my shift at the hospital.
