Pineview crappies still active? - SBennett - 10-28-2014 I have not been to PV in a long time and the good crappie reports are tempting me. I may have friday off and other than some wind the weather forecast looks decent. Anyone been up lately and care to share? [signature] Re: [SBennett] Pineview crappies still active? - TubeDude - 10-28-2014 [#0000FF]I fished Willard today and talked to a guy from Huntsville...right on Pineview. He said there are still plenty of crappies but they are going deeper...like 30 feet or more. Also, the majority of what you catch will be small but there are some footlongs or better. Best fishing is around Cemetery Point and toward the narrows...in 30 feet of water near a fast downward slope...along the north side. I also do well this time of year out from the docks at the port ramp. Watch your sonar and move up the channel toward the yacht club. There are sometimes some bigger individual fish there. Can a guy still launch a 18' boat at what I seem to remember is called Port Launch? [signature] Re: [SBennett] Pineview crappies still active? - TubeDude - 10-28-2014 [#0000FF]The Port Ramp is the main launching area on the west side of the lake, around from where the road crosses the dam. All size boats are still launching okay. No fees after October 1. By the way, do you have geese hanging from your belt? Caught a dozen or so, most were about 8". The action was slow after the cold temps last night. Also, caught a couple of 9" perch and several smaller perch around the large tires on the south side of the Yacht Club. [signature] Re: [SBennett] Pineview crappies still active? - k2muskie - 10-29-2014 Port ramp docks and Yacht Club are seeing heavy angling pressure. We've been marking lots of nice size Crappies 30' plus all river channel areas get a good topo map of Pineview find deep water sloping and old RR tracks and Pits you'll find slabs mixed in with lots of 7-9"era. But again lots of pressure in previous mentioned areas. [signature] Re: [TubeDude] Pineview crappies still active? - SBennett - 10-29-2014 I actually do, good memory. I harvested my first archery goose a couple weeks ago to boot. Quite the the rush! [signature] Re: [SBennett] Pineview crappies still active? - TubeDude - 10-29-2014 [#0000FF]Pornographic memory. Nice work on the feathery things. [/#0000FF] [signature] Re: [SBennett] Pineview crappies still active? - StillHuntin - 10-29-2014 Well done!!! I'm assuming over deeks and not pass shooting ;-) Flu-Flus ? [signature] Re: [StillHuntin] Pineview crappies still active? - SBennett - 10-29-2014 Thank you. Lay out blind and decoys. Land the flock, let them chill for a bit to feel relaxed, slowly pull crossbow out of blind and took the closest Canada with 3 blade broadhead on 20" arrow. Unfortunately can't use flu-flus in a crossbow due to how the arrow sits on the rail. Brushing your blind thouroughly is of highest priority. [signature] Re: [SBennett] Pineview crappies still active? - waldocod - 10-30-2014 No problem launching. However the ramp is very rough and bumpy. Rattled my little trailer to the point my old school trailer light bulbs broke. LEDs next year. You have to beach the boat as the ramp that connects to the docks is disconnected. I've had my best luck from the north side of Cemetary Point and down toward spring creek. [shocked] Good job! [signature] Re: [StillHuntin] Pineview crappies still active? - SBennett - 10-30-2014 Yessir, crossbows finally allowed this year. I am disabled (missing left hand) so I can't shoot traditional archery gear. I have petitioned the State many years for this opportunity and something finally changed their mind. I hope it eventually leads to urban goose hunting but I doubt the powers to be are willing to open their minds that much. Good luck to you. [signature] Re: [waldocod] Pineview crappies still active? - SBennett - 10-30-2014 Thanks for the tips. Not sure where spring creek is but I'll do a little research. Maybe Pat has a PV map, hint hint. I'm guessing 1" gulps on drop shot will do the trick. [signature] Re: [SBennett] Pineview crappies still active? - TubeDude - 10-30-2014 [#0000FF]Spring Creek is at the far eastern side of the lake. When water levels are up there is a lot of flooded brush in there. Good for spring crappie catchin'. Here's your map...one I have posted before. [/#0000FF] [signature] Re: [TubeDude] Pineview crappies still active? - k2muskie - 10-30-2014 The map shows only the mouth of Spring Creek. Spring Creek true (as of now) has no water. Map is view of Pineview with low water not the lowest but low water. The map is not with Pineview full. Note the old road beds in north and south fork on map when water is high these are covered. Including Gerristen Bay (not labeled on map) and Spring Creek have water all the way to the back and at depths up to 12'. Spring Creek mouth depicted on map does have water but is very shallow with no structure at all. [fishin] [signature] Re: [PACKFAN] Pineview crappies still active? - waldocod - 10-30-2014 Yup! I'm ready. I was encouraged that the fish are getting bigger in there. I fished with Tim a lot so whatever he posts is what I've been doing. Had a good year with the Willard bite in the spring, the Gorge, fall crappie at Pineview. I fished in Washington a lot with my friend up there . Really good salmon , lingcod and rockfish. Was in a tuna tournament up there. The albacore were father offshore this year but we had some decent days although the weather was rough. [signature] Re: [TubeDude] Pineview crappies still active? - SBennett - 10-30-2014 Thanks Pat!
