I've seen something very similar with a big brown on the Sevier river several years ago. As I was approaching the stream I spooked several ducklings out of the grass. Not being able to fly yet they retreated to the stream for escape. As one was swimming across the stream a brown lunged up to try and eat the little duck. He either misjudged the size of the duckling or the speed he was traveling and knocked him to the other side of the bank. To say the least the little feller was shook up. It was one of the neatest things I have seen while fishing.
