Bear River --High flows - cpierce - 04-08-2015 The spring boating flows for Black Canyon are starting. The normal flow is about 70 to 100 cfs. The boater flows are up to 900 cfs. This is class 5 white water. These high flows also are frequently mirrored in the flows below Oneida Dam. I also am curious on how they affect young fish. Best information would be if you called the SE Idaho F&G office and talk to Dave Teuscher. The kayak groups lobbied to get these whitewater flows. At least they flush some of the sediment downstream. This is always a good thing for trout as it tends to clean out gravel bars and spawning areas. [signature] |
