Favorite early fishery - ironrod - 04-29-2015 Yellowstone lake opens on Memorial Day weekend again this year-last year was the first time (used to be June 15th). If you like to catch /eat some great tasting lake trout I highly recommend a trip up there in the first 2-3 weeks. You'll also catch plenty of large yellowstone cutthroat- some of the prettiest fish you'll ever catch!(and release []) last year the average cutty was 18" and fat! Some as long as 25"... Biggest mack was just shy of 9 lbs - I think we brought home just over 20 of those. Anyway share yours if you like, or just take my advice and hit this gorgeous lake! I know with sleds they banned two strokes, but haven't heard on boats. [signature] Re: [Bmarsh] Favorite early fishery - ironrod - 04-30-2015 no restrictions for motors on most of the lake, some small areas are no motor zones. just no lead , pinched barbs are the things you have to watch [signature] Re: [ironrod] Favorite early fishery - windriver - 04-30-2015 Are they shallow enough to fly fish for them? I used to fish it a lot until the cutt population dropped. Windriver [signature] Re: [windriver] Favorite early fishery - ironrod - 05-01-2015 those first few weeks most fish are found from 5 to 20 foe [signature] Re: [ironrod] Favorite early fishery - Bmarsh - 05-01-2015 Shoot may need to try and talk my dad into detail Into this instead of Henry's and fighting the crowds over memorial when we visit. I love Henry's but the opener crowds are a bit much [signature] Re: [Bmarsh] Favorite early fishery - ironrod - 05-01-2015 one of the main reasons to hit this lake....NEVER crowded[cool] [signature] |
