BulletTJ, Chick. CFF #4, Bass, 5-2-15, Kenshep - FishNews - 05-05-2015
Started the day off fishing a small cove. I caught our big fish, 7.14 lb on a beaver in about 5' of water. She had just spawned last night. Her tail was dripping blood. Just a short time later Ken caught our second keeper. I caught another keeper on a trick worm. We caught several more smaller fish but no up grades. We moved to a spot Ken and I fished the first time I took him fishing. I pitched my trick worm next to a dock post and then I noticed something in the water. After a closer look it was cement piers from an old dock. Then I felt something pulling on my rod. I look up and my trick worm is moving off to deep water. I lean back on it and start reeling. I didnt jerk because I was using a circle hook. That fish started pulling like a train. It made several hard runs and then heads under the boat. It comes up and it is a BIG Spotted Bass. It had to be between 5 to 6 pounds. It makes another surge and then it comes up fast. Dang thing jumps the net and hits the end of the net and comes off. Man I wish we could have got that fish in the boat. I have never caught a spot that size on the Chick. Poor Ken was upset about it getting off. It bothered him more than it did me. I told him it just happens sometimes and you just have to except it. We caught several bass today and had a great time. Thanks to those that conducted the tournament. Great job as usual. It was great to see everyone and congrats to the winners. Man that was a great sack of fish. Oh and Jmax you need to wash your boat. emoPoke
