Flaming Gorge Help - TroutFool - 06-02-2015 Some friends and I are going up this weekend and I've never fished there before. I've got some general questions for trolling and shore fishing. When trolling for rainbows, Kokanee, or other species do you tip your lures with bate, and if so what works best? As far as shore fishing, what are some good areas on the Utah side and what different setups work? Thanks in advance for any advise. I've had good luck at Sheep Creek, Mustang, Cedar Springs and also at the Dam Visitor Center. I've had great luck with 3.5" Power tube jigs, spinners, spoons, Jakes spin-a-lure, Powerbait and floating nightcrawlers up off bottom. There's also good smallmouth bass fishing near those ramps as well. [signature] Re: [fishnate] Flaming Gorge Help - submoa - 06-03-2015 The sheep creek launch area is good from shore. Trolling make sure you tip your lure with the gulp maggots. It's a big difference maker. Troy about 1.8 gps speed, I'd recommend a flasher and pink squid at the depth where you see them on the finder. If you don't see them on the finder then I'd vary my depths. They likely are shallow when that's the case. Hope you catch a few. [signature] |
