Javelin33, Chick, Crappie, 3-22-15 - FishNews - 06-20-2015 I went crappie fishing By myself yesterday afternoon for 4 or 5 hours. I hadn't fished in a week and wanted to see if the fish had moved any. They were mostly in the same spots and I caught quite a few. <br />I tied up some hair jigs and actually caught a bunch on them which was neat. I need to get better at it but it's always fun catching them on something you make. I've been fishing a lot with hair jigs lately. I usually throw BGs but the fish have been stacked in very specific spots and it's been important to make the same cast quickly after catching one. I like never having to change plastics.<br />The fish I caught were all shallow and really aggressive when you got in the right place. I caught around 30 keepers and close to 15 throw backs. I had a hard time keeping the yellow stripe away as well. They'll move in and ruin a crappie bite for a little bit. I caught one monster white crappie right at 2lbs and most of the other fish were 11-12in.<br />Most came from 4fow, temp got up to 60 in one shallow spot.
