Henry's Lake- Humble Pie - Dgallen - 07-06-2015 We fished Henry's July 1-4 and it was tough. We managed about 12 fish a day between the 3 of us, all cutts and hybrids in the 3-4 pound range. Did see the boat next to us land what he claimed to be a 6.5 pound hybrid. Overheard a few of the good ole boys saying they haven't seen a brookie in a week. We had the best luck at Targhee on the fly, tough to find a real productive pattern. Renegades, damsels, chironomids, pheasant tails, and scuds caught us a few. With the heat we have had as well as the full moon, I am surprised that you caught as many as you did! I did fair but I resorted to the river with the lake temps reaching 72. I don't keep any and that was too warm to play with them. No Brookies for us on the lake, river was another story. They weren't hitting anything small for me. Purple Showgirls and CA Leeches on a type3. [signature] Re: [flygoddess] Henry's Lake- Humble Pie - Dgallen - 07-07-2015 It is certainly a fickle place. We didn't get any love on type 3. Everything was either floating lines or type 1. [signature] Re: [Dgallen] Henry's Lake- Humble Pie - flygoddess - 07-07-2015 I think of it as Technical. We tried intermediate and Type 2 as well. ...nothing. Scuds and Mids, I would have fished deep, go figure. Not really top water flies, but what the heck. Maybe I over think it. [cool] I did manage a couple on my leech. The water is full if them. [signature] Re: [flygoddess] Henry's Lake- Humble Pie - Dgallen - 07-08-2015 I've lost my touch with the leeches on that lake. Seems like 6-7 years ago all I'd take was a leech box with the standard hot chocolate, purple showgirl, and Halloween and be fine. I haven't been able to consistently strip leeches and catch them on Henry's for a long time. [crazy] [signature] Re: [flygoddess] Henry's Lake- Humble Pie - Madplumber - 07-19-2015 Water temp dropped to 64 as of yesterday still could not land a fish [signature] Re: [Madplumber] Henry's Lake- Humble Pie - brownleech - 07-21-2015 Three of us fished it yesterday and caught about 20 - one cut and the rest were chubs. - Hot action!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cutts and Hybrids on the past trips with a brookie now and then. No Brookies this year out of the lake...yet. [signature] |
