Chesterfield help - Twag1234 - 01-21-2016 Wanted to know how the fishing/ice/roads were up to chesterfield. Me and some buddies were going to head up there from Utah. Wanted to know what the word is up there? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!![fishon] Re: [Twag1234] Chesterfield help - jaklakmak - 01-22-2016 As of this morning most the lake was not reachable since this last Tuesday/Weds snow and ground blizzard. Maybe by this weekend the county blades will have been out there but I wouldn't count on it. [signature] Re: [jaklakmak] Chesterfield help - Itwasthisbig - 01-22-2016 Can you get to the parking lot? [signature] Re: [jaklakmak] Chesterfield help - Twag1234 - 01-22-2016 yeah, hopefully by tomorrow around 5. We are heading up there tomorrow. So the parking lot would be a big win there. What other lakes are close? (Not from around that area) Re: [Twag1234] Chesterfield help - Itwasthisbig - 01-22-2016 Just got a report that says you can't get to the lake. Re: [Itwasthisbig] Chesterfield help - Twag1234 - 01-22-2016 Any places worth going to that you think will be accessible? Blackfoot? Re: [Twag1234] Chesterfield help - Steelie30 - 01-22-2016 Blackfoot Reservoir has pretty bad accessibility as well and the fishing is very slow. It has been a couple weeks since I was at Chesterfield but it is worth the walk in if you are willing to treck out there. We did really well in about 8FOW and action was very steady until about noon. The only drawback is that the fish are a lot smaller this year than in years past. I would say the average fish is 12-15 inches. The biggest we have caught this year was about 22" but everything else was in the smaller range. We were using very small slushbugs tipped with about 1" of nightcrawler. Pink seemed to work best and don't be afraid to suspend your depths a little bit. Looking at different options, but haven't found anything really exciting. Out of curiosity how far is the walk in to get to the reservoir, and how thick is the ice? Thanks for any help you can give. Hopefully o can get back there with a trailer. Re: [Twag1234] Chesterfield help - Steelie30 - 01-22-2016 The ice is plenty thick. You'd be fine. If they have it plowed, it won't be too bad of a walk to the lake. [signature] Re: [Steelie30] Chesterfield help - Itwasthisbig - 01-22-2016 Lots of water and slush on top of the ice. Don't attempt to take a 4 wheeler our side by side in. Snowmobiles are good. Fishing was slow. [signature] |
