April MosquitoLagoon DaytonaBeach NewSmyrna - CaptMikeSavedow - 04-22-2016 Great spring fishing continues in the Mosquito Lagoon backcountry and the Intracoastal Waterway area here at Edgewater and New Smyrna Beach where I fish which has nice clean water, unfortunately locations further south in the Indian River have been experiencing poor water quality caused by an algae bloom. Spring migrating game fish Jack Crevalle and Ladyfish have been thick with lots of fun rod bending, also good numbers of Seatrout and Mangrove Snapper, also some Redfish, Sheepshead, Black Drum, and others eating our live shrimp baits. Summer patterns will begin next month with more Redfish hunting on the flats, and Seatrout live baiting at Mosquito Lagoon. Bill from Jacksonville came down with his young boys and fished with me recently in the back waters, the boys had great fast action with all the mixed variety species including lots of fun Jacks with several up to about 5 lbs............................ http://imageshack.com/a/img921/538/wZVdPH.jpg Repeat snow bird client Bob from Ohio came on a solo flats fishing trip a couple weeks ago catching a few nice Redfish up to 26” also a quality Seatrout of about 3 lbs....................... http://imageshack.com/a/img923/3306/lGgtdZ.jpg Shovelnose Sharks (like Hammerheads) up to 40” have made their annual spring visit in the backcountry, have had several caught recently, big battle on light spin tackle, Roger from England was here visiting his Florida cousin, they had a fun trip with me, including one of the Shovelnose, this one approx 15 plus lbs, a quick picture before we released him....................... http://imageshack.com/a/img922/2258/3druDb.jpg Longtime local regular client Ed put together 2 spring time trips with friends on the first trip and a few young men he mentors on the other trip, both fun trips with lots of the usual backcountry fish, William with a good Black Drum from the adults trip...................... http://imageshack.com/a/img921/8532/S6uu80.jpg First time client Todd from Oviedo Florida and his 5 year old daughter “Ace” had a fun trip recently, Ace was tickled catching a bunch of fish including some battles with fun Jack Crevalle................... http://imageshack.com/a/img921/6015/Ed9LMU.jpg Fast jumping Ladyfish are always entertaining, Anne’s family had a blast catching a bunch of them....................... http://imageshack.com/a/img923/1476/c1sbO5.jpg CALM WATER INSHORE SALTWATER FISHING – NO SEA SICKNESS CHILDREN ALWAYS WELCOME – FAIR PRICES Near Daytona Beach, New Smyrna, and Orlando, East Central Florida CALL OR TEXT ME ANYTIME 386-689-3781 See my website http://EdgewaterRiverGuide.com 2015 GulfShore 20’ by Young Boats MOSQUITO LAGOON FLATS FISHING AND INDIAN RIVER BACKCOUNTRY MIXED BAG SALTWATER FISHING TRIPS Capt.
