So I have to say, fishing has just been awesome this Fall. I've caught more bass this fall than I ever had and hooked more bigguns than I did in the pre spawn by quiet a few. Water has been 54-55 most of the time I've fished the last couple weeks. I had a couple hours to fish once I got home from WV last Sunday and it was awesome! First spot I hit the fish were there in force and the bait was everywhere. This day the bait was just absolutely loaded every spot I hit. I caught 15-20 in about 30 minutes and had a limit of 3lbers. So I decided to move to a different spot where three days before I lost an absolute tank fishing with my buddy. So when I got there I made the identical cast to where I lost that fish and 'WHAM" the line just started ripping off my reel. There was a guy crappie fishing close to me and we both thought it was a drum. The fish never even jumped one time. After it bulldogged a few times I finally saw it was green and huge. Got it in the net with the go pro running. Seems every time I forget the go pro I catch my best fish so I was glad to have it. The fish weighed in 9lbs even which was my personal best and was super fat! I've caught a couple in the summer that were over 8 and were 25 inches long. This one was only 22.5 inches long! Pregnant on shad for sure!
So I hit a few more spots and caught fish and then hit a spot I rarely fish that I always tell myself there should be big fish that live there. I've never even caught a fish on it, but it was loaded with bait on my depth finder and the third cast I caught a 6lber to improve my bag. Talk about a fun day for sure. I fished for 3 days earlier that week and I had at least 1 giant bass get off at the boat each day. I was catching tons of fish earlier in the fall on spooks and then when the grass was good I caught them on a frog, but that didn't last long and I switched to a trap the last couple weeks and it's been game on ever since. Everything I've caught has come running a trap in 1ft to 4ft of water. I love the trap bite when it gets fired up like it has been!
Oh and I didn't post what my favorite trap is in an earlier post. It's the one in the bass's mouth! Rattletrap 1/2 oz anything. Love them and they come already equipped with the treble hooks I put on all my crankbaits!
