To me it was not a bad day. To some it would have been. But me and the son planned on getting an early start on it. But that didn't work out. But owell better than a day at work. I took this week off. Didn't get on the water until 12. We started out shallow. Had first fish in boat in about 15 minutes. But then took a bit for the next one. We kept mixing up baits trying to get them to turn on. Then we finally started catching a few. But the time we left there we had 5 fish. Had another place in mind. But couldn't refuse to try some deep rock. Did not stay there long. Fished probably 100yards of the bank no bits. So we headed on down. Got to the next spot made half way down the bank. I had the best one of the day eat the bait(4.1). I had switched from reaction bait to a drag bait. Got it in took a pic. Let her go on the next cast 2nd biggest one of the day hit it. (3.4). That was it on that spot no more takers. Started boat up. Was not running right. But eased over to the next spot. No bites. Same thing in the next place. So we headed back toward the ramp but had plans to fish a couple more places on the way. Started noticing we was loosing power. Speed dropped 3mph. I knew then something was for sure up. We went ahead and made another stop. But I did notice some steam coming from exhaust. By the time we made it into the spot going slow we was down a cyclinder. I told my son then we might be using the tm the rest of the way. He pulled one more out of there. We went to leave and it had a dead hole for sure. Couldn't get it to run enough to get it to move boat so we trolled on in to ramp. We got there. 3 young guys was in another boat. Fixing to load. 2 still in there boat could not get it to run so we pulled them back to the dock. There tm was down and the outboard. We had a tm so why not help. They got loaded up. We got loaded next. I had a good guess what was wrong with the boat. Got home pulled spark plugs. 1 looked right. Other was extremely clean. I thought then yeah that's going to be a problem. Checked compression. Other cyclinder at 140 that one was 60. I thought. Hope the blowed head gasket did not cause any other issue with the bore. Pulled the head. Cylinder looks great. No issues just blown head gasket. So not so bad. When you have old boats like me best to have 2 so you can try to keep one going to fish out of. But all in all I had a great time with my son on the lake. Caught some fish. That's the main thing.
