We sent everyone out for CFF #6 then headed to where we wanted to start. Withing a few minutes Dusty boated the first fish, a small keeper at 1.68 ounces. I then let one get off on a buzzbait. Before it got dark, Dusty caught 7 more fish, and I boated two, with the second one being a 1.88 lb keeper. We passed a guy and his wife who offered us "Free Beer Friday" but we politely declined. As the night moved on, we started questioning that decision.
Once it got dark, I pitched a senko under a lighted dock and the fight was on. We spent close to 15 minutes on the fight before Dusty, leaning over the front of the boat on his belly, was able to pull our biggest fish, over 4 pounds, in the boat. I was terrified of a line break, since we had it happen the Friday before under the same dock. This time, the dock owner had make it more difficult, surrounding his dock with crap to pitch around. This also eliminated our ability to skip under the dock from a distance, which resulted in spooking the fish, and us leaving several large fish under the structure unwilling to bite. We then moved to two other lighted docks, but could not elicit a strike out of them. One dock had a large Gar hanging around and the other did not show anything larger than a bream.
We finally hit another set of docks where I caught three fish on three casts, and lost one that had apparently grabbed the end of the worm. One of the three fish was an upgrade (3lbs) to one of our keepers and the other two, while making the length mark, did not help us. Caught a couple of small ones to end the night. Most fish caught in 4-6 FOW on soft plastics.
Not the finish we wanted, but we did find some fish and with a little luck could have had a much better bag.
