South Carolina Weekly Shallow Saltwater Fishing Report
Week of 07-22-01 through 07-28-01

Sorry to be so late with this report but I got a computer virus by e-mail late last week. It was sent by one of those fishing site mass mailers and I did what I knew I shouldn’t. I opened a file from an unknown source, which can be really bad business!! I had to take the computer to a specialist to get rid of the virus.

Fishing was pretty good this week. We had our biggest ever shallow water redfish which weighed in at exactly 25# on the Boga Grip. I had seen a huge fish in the same place a month earlier, and again that same morning. He took a mullet minnow on a 20# test rig, and the fight lasted over 15 minutes. We had several other really big reds this week also. I’ll do the totals here for the reds since it was the highlight of the week. Heck, it was the highlight of the season, so far!! We had 16 reds in my boat and they weighed in at: 3@ 3 ½#, 1@ 4#, 1@ 5#, 3@ 8#, 1@ 9#, 2@ 10 ½#, 2@ 11#, 1@ 13#, 1@ 15 ½#, and the really big one, 1@ 25#. That was a really good week in spite of the high winds we had. In addition to these reds, we had several trout, one of which was 4#, and some ladyfish, bluefish and flounder. We caught some of these redfish tailing, some of them in grass at highwater, and some of them out on the flats. There was no real pattern that I could tell, it just seemed that there were a few fish at all the old favorite holes for a change and the majority were caught on mullet minnows either under a float or on a fish-finder rig on the bottom.

Thanks, Gene Dickson
Delta Guide Service http://www.deltaguideservice.com
Georgetown, SC
1-843-546-3645

PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS
E-mail Address: Delta-Guide-Service@sc.rr.com

We are a saltwater fishing guide service located on the coast of South Carolina.
