After all of the rain this week - my dad was getting a little stir crazy - and talked me into hitting the lake for a couple of hours thurs afternoon. We put in above the dam around 2:00 - went looking for bass even though bass fishing is not really my strength on the chick - caught a chunky 2 lb smallie and a pretty 2.5 lb LM slow rolling a big spinner through brush - then had a real nice (5-6) LM on for 15 seconds but it jumped rite at the boat and threw the bait back at me. We were near a couple of my fav crappie spots so we decided to give them a quick shot or two. They were home in a big way. We spent the next hour catching crappie on almost every cast - only tried 2 spots and they were hungry at each of them. They were extremely tight to the cover, do not know how they saw the jig at all with the water so colored up - we kept 20, caught around 40. The 3 biggest were over 14", with one @ 15", the biggest that my dad has caught yet. They were all spawned out, and hitting on a 2-3 count TIGHT to the cover. A gorgeous day after all of the rain - bright skies and a little breezy. BG shad on 1/32 head, chart/black and pink/black bodies were the clear favorites, did not do as well on white/chart, but caught a few on almost everything.
