So I made good on the promise to my crew to take a ride up Murdock basin and try some fishing at Echo. Left happy valley at 7 with some friends in tow. Arrived at the murdock turnoff around 9 am and 56 gloriously cool degrees. Made the run on our atv's up to echo but had to take our time since my 9 year old is new to his KFX 90 and likes to be careful, so we got there a little later than ideal fishing time. This trip ended up being more about getting out of the house, seeing some beautiful backcountry with fishing being just a bonus- not the main focus.
Got to Echo, threw some fly/bubble combos, had a bite on a jakes but lost it, undid a few tangles for the kids, and finally managed a small brookie after an hour at the lake. (it was released when she wasn't looking).
After we had our fun at Echo, we took the ride down to the falls on the Duchesne river and let the kids climb and play in the water. What an awesome place. We didnt get to stay long as we saw the storm clouds a brewin' and the lightning was way too close for comfort so we packed up and took off. Sadly a guy got hit by lightning from that same storm just up 150 a bit- I hope he's okay. Glad we bailed when we did but we got rained on most of the way back to the trucks. The rain felt great and there was no dust to contend with so again a bonus. To top it off we saw 3 moose near the soapstone campground.
THere was a bike race going on which meant a game of dodge the bikers riding in the middle of the road on the way home.
My kids haven't been so buzzed in a long time- great day overall.

I saw your whole clan up there, nice of you to get everyone up to such a pretty place but i walked by after you left and found some left over garbage from you guys. We need to keep places like that clean from littering if we want it staying beautiful.

We tried to clean up everything, but having some little folks with us we might have missed something, I hope karma kicks in for us since I cleaned up some garbage left behind by a group of jeepers, I would hope someone would do the same for me if I missed something, we do try to be conscientious of our selves.

I picked up more trash Saturday in Murdock Basin than I have in the last handful of trips. Had a whole plastic bag full by the end. Most of what I picked up wasn't around lakes so could have been the ATV crowd just as easily as those fishing. Hopefully the extra attention on the area recently won't leave the place trashed.
Now Chubby Chaser I think you missed a few moose close by. Above the falls in the picture about half way up the hill is Little Deer Creek reservoir. There was a couple moose in the meadow next to that on the far side from the road on Saturday.
