An all-time record of over 67,000 Chinook crossed Bonneville Sunday. Check out the camera link above. It has been a never-ending stream of fish. Remarkable. Mike

Fishing deschutes up until yesterday has been horrible. 25000 yesterday over thedalles water too warm. 68 deg. Steelhead fishing was pretty good but only landed 4 salmon in 2 and a half days. A couple nice 40 inch bucks very strong fish. Only about 20 percent of boats catching fish last week.

I will be there around the 1st of Oct. Mostly fishing for steelhead in the afternoons and salmon in the mornings. It has been very good the last three years for steelhead surprisingly as it has for the last 12 since I quit growing potatoes before I start the beet harvest.

I went there 3 years ago and did awesome on steelhead. Never targeted fall run salmon though, most people fish bobber/bait or troll for them?

The best fishing for salmon starts after the 15th. if you want to really catch them the deschutes is still your best bet. 80 percent of Lewiston salmon are wild and pretty small.

Chrome I'm with ya on that one. I just moved back to I.F. from Salmon in July and they are already catching steelhead. I'm a little heart broken watching those cameras and getting the reports from the buds in Salmon.

Could be a banner year around Tri-Cities, Ringold and The Reach, if the fish can get by the mazz of Indian nets from Bonneville Dam upriver.

When I lived in OR i fished the columbia and tributaries. Ive never fished the fall run in ID. Dont really care about keeping any, got a bunch of springer in the freezer, just want another jolt from catching a couple.

We can definitely do that. I'm off on the weekends so anytime you want to go I'm down.

Now just so everyone knows, I don't fish for salmonoids on purpose, but I got the call today to fish near Yakima in this "best run in 35 years".

I'm kinda excited, maybe we'll catch some sturgeon too. This is where Gertrude came from.

i just got back from fishing the deschuets, white salmon and kilickitat river mouths do not go we fished our butts off for 4 days straight had one fish. we trolled hot shots, wiggle warts, drifted eggs ran spin and glows, and jigged we even tried rouge river rigs to no avail not one lousy salmon or steal head. I wish we would have waited about 2 weeks or so but thats when the guys i could go with could go.

on the bright side i caught a pink, yes thats right pink sturgeon at the mouth of the white salmon. i figure he has stollen so many cured eggs and shrimp that he is changing color. lol forgot my phone that day so no pics

The water is too warm. The last two weeks have been horrible in the Columbia. Friends who returned this week had the same results. Pity the poor saps who are paying guides. A guide reported to a friend three days on the Deschutes and one on the Klicitat without a fish.
