Record breaking rainbow!
#1
Every few years one of these monsters gets caught out of the North Fork below Dworshak. Pretty cool...

What an incredible fish. I'm amazed that he let it go. Catch of a lifetime.

Yeah, that would be tough. Looks like he did everything he could to try and break the record and follow the rules.

If Dave tuescher wouldn't have miss categorized the rainbow caught out of AF it would have been the new state record rainbow. But he seen an opportunity for his name to make headlines and lied saying it was a hybrid cuttbow. Which was indeed a lie. It is 100% impossible for it to be a hybrid according to what Dave reported. The fish was said to be around 6 years old, and he said there are no naturally spawned cuttbows due to all the rainbows being steril, and the last time they stocked hybrids was over 15 years ago, so by that the "world record" cuttbow as announced by Mr tuescher is indeed a lie. It is nothing more than a hatchery kamloops that a very very large majority of them have faint orange slashes from cross breeding that occurred a decade ago ...

"Their scale put the rainbow at 28.37 pounds. They say it was 32 inches long with an amazing girth of 28.5 inches."

Whoa, now that is a fish of a lifetime!!! [cool]

There is no doubt it is a huge fish but triploids that size are not all that uncommon in some waters where they are stocked. They have the freakish girth with a disproportionately small head and tail......personally I don't think they should be considered for records with normal diploid fish.

I fished with some TyeDye Twins once....hmmmmmmmm

The cutbow from American Falls Reservoir was indeed a hybrid. They tested its genetically. Lab test don't lie and I seriously doubt that anyone else did either. I don't think anyone had any kind of agenda to have it classified as anything other than what it was.

Here is one article on it that specifically states that it was tested.

Oh the tests Dave did. I know for a fact Dave made up his research on the said fish to get his name recognized nationally for a fish he supposedly bred.. Sorry I know the guy who caught it and I know the guy who pulled the ear piece to be tested. They both said Dave wanted it to be a world record and found a loop.

I had a picture sent to me from Mark Adams within the hour it was caught and the ones taken at sportsmans park boat ramp. It does clearly show on the picture the orange marks below the mouth. What it is I dont know some sort of Hybrid. It looks like the big Kamloops in Minidoka Dam although they don't have the orange earmarks. It certainly is not a rainbow.
